Angel & Faith #6 Review

Image
I love it when a story grabs and holds on to you in the first few sentences.  Just grabs you by the collar, shakes you, and screams, "hold on tight!"  You just know that this is going to be the ride of a lifetime.  Writer, Christos Gage, does not disappoint with his opening inner monologue by Angel musing over the grave of Douglas Adams in Angel & Faith #6 .  The story itself is called Daddy Issues and boy is there plenty to go around.  A portion of the story looks into Giles's past, his early days of learning to be a watcher, a quick introduction to some very cool characters, who (in what I call typical Joss Whedon fashion) are then killed off by a horrible beasty in a quite horrid manner.  The result shows the disconnect between Giles's own father and the turning point of him becoming Ripper.  Further along you discover that Faith's own father is searching for her and I am sure that is going to bring a host of nail-biting, page turning goodness....

Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Promise Part 1 Review

Image
After 3 seasons of following the adventures of Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Toph across the four kingdoms of Water, Earth, Fire, and Air, fans will finally get to see what happens after the series ends.  In Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Promise Part 1 , we pick up immediately after the end of the series to find our heroes along side Fire King Zuko and Earth King Kuei deciding how best to handle the removal of the Fire Nation colonies.  It's decided that The Harmony Restoration Movement, named by Sokka of course, will uproot and move all the Fire Nation colonists back to their homeland in the Fire nation and out of the Earth Nation territory.  A fine idea to be sure but it's soon realized some things are not as easy as they seem and Aang must learn if he can bring peace to the Movement as well as keep a difficult promise to a friend. The book contains the usual hi jinks of course, coupled with the its ability to tackle big social and economic issues much like the show ...

Comics Haul – Week of 11Oct10

Image
I know some of these are from a week or so ago but I don’t always get to my Comic Pusher on every Wednesday.   Hey I’m a busy Faerie, computers and networks won’t sparkle themselves and someone has to eat the last Reese’s cup in your candy stash.   Anyway, on to my picks from this haul and other random ones I grabbed off the shelf that caught my eye. 1 – X-Men: Curse of the Mutants #4 Marvel Written By: Victor Gischler Penciled by: Paco Medina Inked by: Juan Vlasco Colored by: Marte Garcia I have been drooling about this series coming out all summer long.   I am in love with Vampires, just not the sparklie kind.   I am talking about the Lost Boys, no holds barred, Blade movies, do what you want, kick arse kind of Vampires!   I first read an X-Men/Vampires comic back in ‘90 something that centered on Storm being transformed by Dracula himself that was a one shot deal.   Later on in the late ‘90s that idea was revisited on the premise that Storm was still...
