China Glaze Mahogany Magic - The Hunger Games Collection Review

China Glaze brings the 12 Districts of Panem to life in the The Hunger Games Collection.  I'll be working my way through all the colors in time for the opening games, I mean opening night of the movie.  Forgive me for going out of order, I wanted to mix things up a bit so I randomly arranged the collection before swatching.


We start off our tour of Panem in the land of lumber and paper known as District 7 with Mahogany Magic. A rich and creamy chocolate color that was a dream to apply and opaque in two coats.  Shown here with no top coat I wanted the true colors of these to stand out. 

Mahogany Magic is one of those shades that isn't necessarily for everyone.  You have to like your neutrals and your browns to be into this shade.  Of course being a neutral, it is universally flattering for all skin tones.  I love this shade as it is, however SonicReckoning preferred how it looked with Electrify on top.


Mahogany Magic shown here with one coat of Electrify on top and no top coat.  The red and yellow glitter gives it an almost smoldering look.


Mahogany Magic shown here with one coat Luxe and Lush on top and no top coat.  The flecks of Luxe and Lush pulled a lot of gold when paired with Mahogany Magic, which really elevated the color.

China Glaze The Hunger Games Collection is available online and in beauty stores.  I picked up my on Amazon but I have also seen the collection at Ulta.

Good review! I've got this color already, but was wondering about a gold topcoat over it to bring out its gold color. Perfect!

Maleficent Movie Inspired FOTD

After seeing the Maleficent movie last night I was inspired to do a work appropriate face of the day (FOTD). What I used: Urban Decay Naked 2  palette eye shadows in Snakebite, Suspect, and Blackout Julep Eyes All A Glow gel liner in Black Shimmer L'Oreal Miss Manga mascara MAC Venomous Villains Maleficent blush in Briar Rose Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss lipstick in 10 MAC Venomous Villains Maleficent lipglass in Revenge Is Sweet How to apply: Start by applying your moisturizer, primer, and foundation.  Sweep Suspect across your entire eye lid.  Pat Snakebite on the outer 2/3 of your eye lid.  Pat Blackout on the order corner of your eyelid.  With an angled liner brush press Blackout along the outer 2/3 of your lash line.  Apply a thin line of  Black Shimmer onto the outer 2/3 of your lash line.  Sweep Miss Manga on your lashes with a few extra sweeps to your outer lashes.  Dust the apples of your cheeks with Briar Rose.  Apply 10 to your lips and dot Revenge I
