OPI Pirates of the Caribbean Collection

Just like buried treasure this set has been the hard to find one.  It seemed every time I went by a store to complete my set it was sold out!

Sadly I am still missing Mermaid's Tears to complete my Pieces of Eight set but I wanted to share what I did have.

Shown above is Silver Shatter top coat, Stranger Tides, Planks A Lot, Sparrow Me The Drama, Skull and Glossbones, and Steady As She Rose.  At first when I heard about this collection I was expecting dark jewel colors with lots of black behind them.  Kinda like the abundance of heavy black eye liner used in the movies.  Instead the collection is lighter but also murkier, muted shades perfect for summer.  Like the colors are being viewed through water after the mud was stirred a bit.  I rather like it.

On my fingers from pinkie to thumb, Stranger Tides, Skull and Glossbones, Steady As She Rose, Planks A Lot, and Sparrow Me The Drama.  It took a good 3 coats to get some opacity and to hide the streaks I was getting.  Now I have a great deal of trouble applying nail polish, I always have, so the streaks could have been my own fault.  I also always manage to get polish on my cuticles so please try not to notice that.  Any way, Stranger Tides is by far my favorite followed by Steady as She Rose.  Rose is not showing her soft pink tones in this photo unfortunately but she is lovely.

Here they are again with the Silver Shatter top coat.  I don't know if it was my bottle but the consistency felt a lot thicker than the Black Shatter and it didn't shatter quite as much.  I also felt it didn't add anything to the set.  While I like the Silver Shatter, putting it over such soft shades just made my nails look like they had a silver finish.  I was disappointed the color beneath was lost.  I think the Silver will work best over a darker or much brighter nail polish color.  I will try again later this week and share my results.

Do you think the Silver Shatter lost something in translation too?
